CNC turning is commonly used for parts organized around a rotational axis, including shafts, pins, rings, sleeves, bushings and spacers. It is also suitable for components that require controlled diameters, bores, grooves or turned threads. Final process selection depends on the complete part geometry and drawing requirements.

In CNC turning, the workpiece primarily rotates while cutting tools remove material to create cylindrical and rotational features. In CNC milling, rotating cutting tools machine a stationary or repositioned workpiece to create faces, slots, pockets and other prismatic geometry. Some components may require both processes depending on their geometry.

Common HERUIYUN CNC material categories include aluminum, stainless steel, carbon steel, brass, copper, titanium and engineering plastics such as POM, nylon, PEEK, polycarbonate, ABS and acrylic. Final material selection should be confirmed against mechanical, dimensional and application requirements.

Turning tolerance depends on material, diameter, part length, geometry and the relationship between individual features. Critical dimensions should be defined on the engineering drawing and reviewed before production. Where tighter tolerances are required, their feasibility is confirmed during engineering review.

A 3D CAD model helps communicate overall part geometry. A 2D engineering drawing should also be supplied when the project includes critical diameters, tolerances, threads, surface finishes, surface roughness requirements or other controlled features.
